Beginner class

The class went fine today. I did as planned with Eugene yesterday. I recapped what they did yesterday morning. They were still able to remember the words they learnt to describe Singapore. They had also came up with words to describe Taiwan, Vietnam and USA. I was a little concerned in the beginning that the words they had came up with weren’t adjectives, but decided to leave it as it was. What they came up with was what they knew about these countries and I felt that that was good enough. They had some help from me with the spelling of the words they had wanted to write/the idea they had wanted to express. For example, Janny and Chai would tell me in Mandarin what they have in mind and I will try to think of a suitable word or phrase for them. I wondered if it was good, for me to ‘feed’ them with the words. ????? I had to speak quite a bit of Mandarin to Janny to make sure that she knew what I was saying before she could help to explain to Thanh Thien. Lan was very conscientious about writing down whatever that was written on the board while the rest tend to look at me whenever I’m speaking. Thanh Thien was very attentive and earnest throughout the two-hours. Generally, I had no problems with them today.
It is indeed a relief, interacting with the four new students today. They were pretty angelic, focused and attentive. Yes, it reminded me that discipline, right from the beginning, is very important, in order to prevent problems later on.
